SAIBT follows a similar system to the UniSA grading system as summarised in the table below.

What is a Grade Point Average (GPA)?
For each course you complete you will receive one of the following grades:

 Grade  Assessment Symbol  Grade Point  Notional %
 High Distinction  HD  7  85-100
 Distinction  D  6  75-84
 Credit  C  5  65-74
 Pass Level 1  P1  4.5  55-64
 Pass Level 2  P2  4  50-54
 Fail Level 1  F1  1.5  40-49
 Fail Level 2  F2  1  <49
 Withdraw- not fail  W  - Student withdrew from the course (without penalty) on or before the date prescribed by the Academic Director for the withdrawal without a failure.
 Withdraw fail  WF 1.5  Student withdrew from the course after the date prescribed by the Academic Director for the withdrawal without a failure.
 Incomplete  I  -  The assessment for the course is incomplete and an extension of time has been allowed on the grounds detailed above.

At the end of a study program a Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated.   A GPA is the average of all your grades for your study program (including any fails). The GPA is used to determine your eligibility for transfer to a UniSA degree program.
